The night of the Pulse was always a loud one in Cirrane, but this was the loudest it had ever been; the fact that half of the towns population would be made up of tourists wouldn't help. Hearing my friend call out to me is reassuring

"Wait here," They command, "I heard the cops are monitering every ship that comes in."
I nod and prop myself up on the wall as the ship bumps against the dock. I can hear loud footsteps outside, I cross to the otherside of the ship and look out one of the cannon holes, I see a group of people aproching the ship as crewmembers begin to get off.
One of the aproching people speaks, their voice is hushed, yet deep and commanding still, but I think I hear them say "You are not authorized to dock here. What is your buisness here?"
A familliar, warm voice, that of the captain's confidently responds "We are just looking for a crew of people who are willing to go on a," he pauses, presumably thinking, "a treasure hunt of sorts."
I begin to get worried, the captain was cursed to never be able to tell a lie a long time ago. If one of the other group asks too much we may not be able to continue with this plot.
The deep voiced individual speaks again "Where exactly is this treasure hunt going to take?"
The captain responds "A couple hundred miles north of the capital"
"There's nothing out there, why would you search there?"
"I found intel that a ship that was supposed to deliver riches to the capital crashed there about a decade ago."
"Very well, go about your buisness"

I grab the paper and begin to read it, it looks interesting so I find a spot to sit.
The paper presents a few different possible ideas about the pulse.
1. The Pulse is made by a past king to distract citizens from any number of various activities, also the least likely to be true
2. The Pulse is manipulated to happen slower so the stars shine brighter, somewhat likely to be true
3. The Pulse is a natural thing created by the materials in our atmosphere and the shape of our homes, also most likely theory

I'm quickly snapped from my thoughs by people pushing past me, we're getting close to the island where we'll pick up the rest of the gear and get prepaired for the final push towards the vault.
I begin to head down to my quarters so I can get ready for the island.
The ship is difficult to navigate due to the amount of people heading to the deck to dock at the port.

Right before the door closes I quickly make it through the door without the cop noticing. I quickly spot the cop walking down the hall to what I can only guess is the barracks for the station. The back room, or hallway I suppose is painted a light beige in stark contrast to the waiting rooms navy blue colored walls. I can guess that the end of the hall opposite of where I saw the cop going is the holding cells.

I quietly follow the cop into the barracks, which are painted a darker, almost brown beige, and filled with dark green bunk beds that don't look strong enough to hold a small dog. The cop goes through another locked door, and it closes before I can even think about following him through it. In the barracks I can see three bathrooms, one for men, one for women, and a gender neutral one, there's also several duffel bags placed at the feet of the beds, it doesn't seem like most of them have been used recently, as all but two of the bags are covered in dust.
